But how am I supposed to know that you're just sleeping, and not in some kind of trouble after you went out for a run?

What if it's not that occasional for me? ( because, well, it isn't occasional. it's ... most nights. and not always does he leave the house, or go for pancakes, or jog to Waiting for a Girl Like You. sometimes he does go back to sleep, eventually. but if Nancy wants a check in any time he wakes up when he didn't want to, it's... well it'll be a lot of check ins. that's all. )
Then it ends up being pretty convenient, since it's not that occasional for me either.

maybe "distraction" isn't totally accurate, but it's not totally wrong, either.
although right now, in the moment? she's not really thinking about it that deeply. all she can seem to think about right now is how fucked up and sad it is that they're all dealing with this thing, and have been dealing with this thing, for years. and it somehow keeps getting heavier and harder to shake, to the point where getting a full night's sleep has become a nearly impossible goal. ]
You can text me anytime, too. I mean, that's what you told me, when I was apologizing for all those dumb texts I sent you? But I just realized I never actually said it back, so... Yeah. I mean it. Anytime.
